October 2 (SeeNews) - Air Canada will start operating flights from Romania's biggest airport Henri Coanda in June next year, the airport operator has said.
Starting June 7, 2018, Air Canada will operate four weekly round trips from Bucharest at Henri Coanda airport to Toronto and Montreal, the Bucharest National Airport Company (CNAB) said in a press release on Friday.
The flights will be operated with Boeing 767 aircraft.
"Air Canada is one of the most prestigious airlines in the world and the inclusion of Bucharest on its destinations list is a testimony to the quality of the services we offer as well as a confirmation that Henri Coanda Bucharest International Airport becomes a relevant interest center on the international aviation map," CNAB general manager Bogdan Mandrescu said.
Currently 47 airlines are operating flights from Henry Coanda International Airport to 103 destinations.
Starting May 1, 2017 Canada abolished visas for Romanians who had been previously issued a visa, and from December 1, 2017 Canada will eliminate visas for all Romanian citizens.
CNAB operates Bucharest's main airport Henri Coanda and a smaller airport, Aurel Vlaicu.
Combined traffic at the two airports rose 20.5% year-on-year to 5.92 million passengers in the first half of 2017. The combined number of take-offs and landings at the two airports rose 9.3% on the year, reaching 61,800 in the first half of 2017.
