February 5 (SeeNews) - Food retailer Spar Albania aims to double its turnover to 200 million euro ($214.8 million) within the next three to five years, its owner, Albanian diversified conglomerate Balfin Group, said on Monday.
The supermarket chain reached a turnover of 115 million euro in 2023, Balfin Group said in social media post.
With its seven new stores opened in 2023, Spar has now 81 stores in 16 districts across the country. Last year, Spar Albania increased its staff by 14% and now employs 1,100 persons, Balfin said. Balfin Group owns 38 of the Spar stores, whereas independent franchise stores account for the remainder, Spar has said.
The license for Spar in Albania was granted in mid-2016 to Almark, a private company owned by the Balfin Group, according to Spar International's website.
