March 28 (SeeNews) - The deposits of the non-governmental sector in Romanian banks grew 11.6% year-on-year to 582.6 billion lei ($126.4 billion/117.1 billion euro) in February, following an annual increase of 11.9% in January, the central bank, BNR, said.
Leu deposits increased 17.5% on the year in February, reaching 408.1 billion lei, compared to 18.4% annual growth in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report on Tuesday.
Foreign currency deposits decreased 0.05% on the year to 174.5 billion lei in February, compared to a 0.7% drop in January.
