PODGORICA (Montenegro), January 6 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's power grid operator Crnogorski elektrodistributivni sistem (CEDIS) has called a tender for the installation of smart meters and rehabilitation of low-voltage lines, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said.
CEDIS plans to finance the project with the proceeds of a 32 million euro ($33.8 million) loan for which it applied with the EBRD on November 11.
The project comprises the installation of about 45,000 smart meters for domestic customers, and rehabilitation of around 600 – 800 km of low voltage lines including replacement of about 20,000 poles in the 2017-2019 period, according to a notice posted on the EBRD's website.
The deadline for the submission of bids is March 6, the EBRD said.
The company plans to invest a total of 39 million euro in the project to transit towards a fully functioning smart grid system.
