April 1 (SeeNews) - Moldova's unemployment rate rose to 4.6% in 2023 from 3.1% in 2022, the statistical office said on Monday.
There were 42,600 registered unemployed individuals in Romania of 2.5 million people last year, up from 27,700 a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, said in a statement.
The jobless rate was 11.5% among people aged between 15 and 24 in 2023, up from 10.7% a year earlier, and 4.6% among people aged between 20 and 64, up from 3.1% in 2022.
People in active age increased by an annual 4.4% to 929,500 in 2023. The number of employed grew by 2.9% on the year to 886,900.
Last year, the unemployment rate for men was 5%, while that for women was 4.2%.
The statistics bureau also said the jobless rate reached 4.4% in rural areas, compared to 4.8% in urban areas.
In 2022, Moldova’s unemployment rate inched down to 3.1% from 3.2% a year earlier.
