December 5 (SeeNews) - Flag carrier Air Serbia said it booked a 46% year-on-year rise in cargo traffic in October to record-high 575 tonnes.
The airline transported 174 tonnes of mail during the month of October, representing an increase of 57% over the same month of 2015. The growth was driven by high volumes of post sent to the US from across Southeastern Europe, Air Serbia Cargo said in a statement on Friday.
General freight volumes also rose strongly, to 401 tonnes carried in October, versus 283 tonnes a year earlier, the company added.
“With a network of 44 destinations and extensive trucking and logistics services, we play a leading role in facilitating trade both in the region and beyond, to North America. Our New York service has really taken off with shippers in Southeast Europe and we are confident it will continue to grow in popularity,” Air Serbia CEO, Dane Kondic, said in the statement.
Air Serbia currently operates a three-per-week service between Belgrade and New York with Airbus A330 aircraft that offers 11 tonnes of belly-hold cargo capacity per flight.
