The main reason behind declining business for Turkish contractors abroad is turmoil in the Middle East region, according to the Turkish Contractors Association, news daily Today's Zaman reported on Tuesday.

Turkmenistan ranked as the most popular destination for Turkish construction companies in 2014, hosting 20.7% of the projects carried out by Turkish companies for the year, followed by Russia with 14.8% and Algeria with 14.2%, according to the daily, citing economy ministry data.
