April 10 (SeeNews) - Turkey's unemployment rate was 13.8% in January 2020, down 0.9 percentage point compared to the same month of 2019, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said on Friday.
There were 4.36 million unemployed people aged 15 and over in January, a decrease of 306,000 compared to the same month of last year, TurkStat said in a statement.
The employment rate slipped by 0.5 percentage points year-on-year in January to 44%, or 27.27 million people.
Labour force participation rate fell 1.2 percentage points to 51%, which translates into 31.63 million people in the month under review.
Youth unemployment rate (age bracket 15-24 years) fell to 24.5%, down 2.2 percentage points compared to January 2019. Youth employment rate fell 0.2 percentage points to 31% in the review period.
