June 16 (SeeNews) - The Iranian and Turkish airlines plan to relaunch passenger flights between the two countries on August 1, following a halt due to the coronavirus outbreak, local media reported.
The two countries continue to work on plans to reopen land borders for travelers, Sabah Daily quoted Turkey's foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu as saying after a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif on Monday.
Furthermore, transport of Iranian natural gas to Turkey will resume by the end of June, Cavusoglu added.
Turkey's customs gates at the border with Iran reopened for freight traffic earlier in June.
Turkey closed its land borders and suspended all international flights in March in an effort to curb the coronavirus spread.
The country's transport and infrastructure minister Adil Karaismailoglu said earlier that the government plans to gradually resume air transport links with 40 countries in June. Domestic passenger flights in Turkey restarted on June 1.
