January 27 (SeeNews) - Saudi Arabia was the leader in terms of imports of arms and ammunition from Bosnia last year, absorbing almost a third of the Balkan country's record sales of those products abroad, local media reported.
Bosnian arms exports to Saudi Arabia totalled 72.2 million marka ($40.7 million/36.9 million euro) last year, down 4% compared to 2018, news portal biznisinfo.ba reported on Friday.
Bosnia's arms exports rose to record-high 213 million marka in 2019, up 3.9% year-on-year, biznisinfo.ba said.
Egypt was the second largest export destination for Bosnian arms in 2019 with some 57.7 million marka, compared to 24 million marka a year earlier.
Afghanistan was third, importing arms from Bosnia worth 12.2 million marka.
The biggest year-on-year drop in Bosnian arms exports in 2019 was recorded on the market of Turkey, where sales plummeted by some 69% to 9 million marka.
