May 18 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's lender NLB Banka [MSE:TNB], part of Slovenian banking group Nova Ljubljanska Banka (NLB), said that its net profit rose 1.9% on the year to 418.5 million denars ($7.3 million/6.8 million euro) in the first quarter of 2020.
The bank's net interest income fell 3.8% year-on-year to 846.7 million denars in the period under review, NLB Banka said in an interim financial statement last week.
Net foreign exchange gains increased by an annual 17.3% to 45.5 million denars, while other operating income leapt 386% to 108.7 million denars.
NLB Banka increased its net financial asset impairments to 186.2 million denars in the first quarter from 131 million denars million denars in the comparable period last year, while amortisation and depreciation costs decreased to 49.5 million denars from 50.7 million denars.
The bank's total assets increased to 89.3 billion denars at the end of March from 88.2 billion denars at the end of last year.
Loans and advances to customers other than banks rose to 55.42 billion denars at the end of March from 54.7 billion denars at the end of 2019, while deposits from such customers grew to 73.26 billion denars from 72.3 billion denars.
