December 7 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's trade deficit fell to 89.5 billion denars ($1.8 billion/1.5 billion euro) in the first ten months of 2020, from 96.1 billion denars in the same period of 2019, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
Exports decreased by an annual 12.8% to 287 billion denars in the January-October period, while imports fell by 11.5% to 376.5 billion denars, Makstat said in a statement.
North Macedonia's exports mainly consisted of supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets used in motor vehicles, aircraft or ships, as well as ferronickel.
The country predominantly imported metals of the platinum group and alloys, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals and flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, plated or coated.
North Macedonia's main trading partners in the period under review were Germany, the UK, Serbia, China and Greece.
