September 6 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's insurance companies posted combined gross written premiums (GWP) of 5.9 billion denars ($113.6 million/95.8 million euro) in the first half of 2021, up from 5.15 billion denars in the same period of 2020, data by the country’s Insurance Supervision Agency showed.
Non-life insurance premiums increased 15.6% year-on-year to 5 billion denars in the six months through June, while premiums in the life insurance segment went up 9.6% to 908 million denars, according to figures released by the Insurance Supervision Agency on Friday.
Triglav Osiguruvanje, part of Slovenian insurance group Triglav, had the largest market share among the non-life insurers in the first half of 2021, as its gross written premiums reached 734.23 million denars.
In the life insurance segment, Croatia Osiguruvanje - Life held the largest market share with gross written premiums of 308.90 million denars in the January-June period.
The report includes data on 11 non-life insurers and five life insurers.
