August 31 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's government debt was equivalent to 52% of the projected gross domestic product (GDP) at the end of July, down 3.9 percentage points compared to the end of the previous month, the finance ministry said on Tuesday.The decrease of government debt in July was mostly due to the repayment of a 500 million euro ($592 million) Eurobond issue made that month, the finance ministry said in a statement.Government debt was equivalent to 55.9% of GDP at the end of June and stood at 49.6% of GDP at the end of 2020, finance ministry data shows.The country's public debt was equivalent to 64.4% of GDP at the end of June, higher than 59.5% of GDP at the end of June 2020.The finance ministry said it is projecting a public debt-to-GDP ratio of 57.7% by 2026. Government debt is seen falling to 50.7% by that year.The government has projected a deficit equivalent to 6.5% of the estimated GDP in this year's budget bill.($ = 0.8445 euro)
