April 30 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia-based drug maker Alkaloid [MSE:ALK] said on Thursday that its consolidated net profit grew by an annual 6.8% to 314.5 million denars ($5.54 million/5.1 million euro) in the first quarter of 2020.
Sales revenue rose 19% year-on-year to 3.37 billion denars in the January-March period, Alkaloid said in an interim financial statement filed with the Skopje bourse.
Sales abroad increased by 25% to 2.42 billion denars, while domestic sales added 5.2% to 951 million denars.
The cost of goods sold was 22% higher on the year at 1.86 billion denars in the review period.
Alkaloid has two subsidiaries in North Macedonia and 16 subsidiaries and two representative offices abroad - in Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and the US.
The company employs 1,620 people in North Macedonia and 492 in its subsidiaries outside of the country.
