February 8 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia will sign a deal with China's Sinopharm on Monday for the delivery of 200,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by the company, health minister Venko Filipce said.
The health authorities plan to start the COVID-19 immunisation of North Macedonia's population with the Chinese vaccine soon, Filipce told a news conference streamed on the government's Youtube channel on Saturday.
Filipce didi not provide further details.
Under the government's immunisation plan, some 2,000-2,500 people a day will receive the Sinopharm vaccine at the COVID-19 vaccination points. Health care workers will be the first ones to receive the jab, followed by people over the age of 70.
North Macedonia has confirmed a total of 94,798 COVID-19 cases and 2,924 associated deaths as of Sunday.
