Eleven commercial banks operated in the country of 2.6 million people as at end-April 2022, BNM said in a data release on Monday.
The top five banks generated almost 90% of the total profit of Moldova's banking sector in the period under review.
Total revenues from interests rose to 2.3 billion lei at end-April 2022, compared to 1.5 billion lei at end April 2021.
Moldovan banks' total assets increased to 116 billion lei at the end of April 2022 from 106.6 billion lei at end-April 2021, according to BNM data.
Moldova Agroindbank was the largest bank at end-April, with total assets of 37.4 billion lei, followed by Moldindconbank with 23.6 billion lei, OTP Bank with 16.08 billion lei, Victoriabank with 15.6 billion lei and by ProCredit Bank with 5.23 billion lei worth of assets.
