SKOPJE (Macedonia), January 16 (SeeNews) – Macedonia's Rzanovo mine operated by local ferronickel plant Feni Industry has been closed, as the company started to import ore from Guatemala, local media reported on Wednesday.
Some 30 miners of Rzanovo ferronickel ore mine were laid off, daily Dnevnik (www.dnevnik.com.mk) said quoting the head of Feni’s trade union, Ilija Hadzinikolov.
The reasons for the move remained undisclosed.
International mining group Cunico, the parent company of Macedonia’s Feni, acquired Guaxilan nickel ore mining complex in Guatemala in October, Cunico said at the time.
Rzanovo mine is located in the Kozuf mountain in the southern part of the country.
