June 18 (SeeNews) - Austrian cinema operator Cineplexx International will open a 10 million marka ($5.7 million/5.1 million euro) cinema in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo in time for the Sarajevo Film Festival, which will take place on August 14-21, the festival organisers said.
"The overall investment (excluding the land cost) in this extraordinary project goes beyond 10 million marka. The project joins the work and expertise of local companies with international technology such as Barco Laser Film projectors, Dolby Atmos technology that provides three-dimensional sound, RealD Ultimate screen technology for clearer picture and the best RealD 3D system," the managing partner and CFO of Cineplexx and its parent Constantin Film Group, Christof Papousek, was quoted as saying in a statement published on the Sarajevo Film Festival's website.
The cinema will spread on 5,000 square metres in downtown Sarajevo. It will have eight cinema halls seating over 1,000 people.
Papousek also announced that Cineplexx is planning to develop a similar project in the southern city of Mostar in cooperation with Mostar-based firm AWG Real Estate.
The company is also present in another Bosnian town, Banja Luka.
Cineplexx Kinobetriebe was founded in Vienna in 1993 and is a subsidiary of Constantin Film Holding, it says on its website. It is present in Austria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Croatia, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia.
