March 4 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Tuzla International Airport intends to make capital investments in the amount of 2.33 million marka ($1.3 million/1.2 million euro) this year, the government of the Tuzla Canton said.
Bosnia's Federation entity will cover 2 million marka of that amount from its budget, while the remainder will be finanved from the Tuzla Canton's budget, the cantonal government said in a press release on Tuesday after it adopted the 2020 business plan of the airport.
Tuzla International Airport also plans to expand its total revenue by some 20% in 2020, to 18.85 million marka on the back of expected higher passenger traffic, cargo transport and increased sales of fuel for aircraft using its services, according to the press release.
Last month, local media reported that Tuzla International Airport is holding negotiations with low-cost carrier Wizz Air for potential introduction of new flight connections from Bosnia's third-largest city.
In 2019, passenger numbers at Tuzla Airport increased by 1.4% compared to 2018, reaching 593,050. The airport served 2.5 million passengers over the last nine years.
The Tuzla Canton is one of ten cantons forming Bosnia's Federation, which is one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other entity is the Serb Republic.
