Bosnia's Serb Republic trade gap widens 78% in Jan-Apr

May 23 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Serb Republic recorded a trade deficit of 691 million marka ($383 million/353 million euro) in the first four months of this year, compared with a trade gap of 389 million marka in the same period of 2023, the entity's statistical office said.

Exports decreased by 8.0% year-on-year, to 1.650 billion marka, while imports rose 7.3% to 2.341 billion marka, the Serb Republic's Institute of Statistics said in a monthly report on Wednesday.

The Serb Republic's main export destinations in the period under review were Croatia and Serbia, absorbing 17% and 15.9% respectively of the entity's total exports.

The largest importers into the entity were Serbia and Italy, with shares of 15.7% and 14.4% of all imports, respectively.

The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other entity is the Federation.
