Bosnia’s Federation insurers GWPs rise 13.3% y/y in Jan-Apr

May 14 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums (GWPs) of insurance companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Federation went up 13.3% year-on-year to 241 million marka ($133 million/123.2 million euro) in the January-April period, official data showed on Tuesday.

Non-life insurance premiums increased 15.6% on the year to 192.4 million marka in the period under review, while life insurance premiums rose 5.1% to 48.6 million marka, according to figures posted on the website of the Federation’s insurance supervision agency.

ASA Central Osiguranje was the top insurer in the non-life segment with gross written premiums of 34 million marka in the first four months, up from 27.7 million marka a year earlier. It was followed by Adriatic Osiguranje and Euroherc Osiguranje, with premiums of 27.5 million marka and 24.6 million marka, respectively.

In the life insurance segment, Grawe Osiguranje ranked first with 11.1 million marka in premiums in January-April, up from 10.8 million marka in the same period of 2023. It was followed by Vienna Osiguranje and Uniqa Osiguranje, with life premiums of 10.5 million marka and 9.5 million marka, respectively.

At the end of April, 19 insurance companies operated in Bosnia’s Federation.

The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.
