January 18 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums (GWPs) of insurance companies operating in Bosnia’s Federation rose 8.3% year-on-year to 560.5 million marka ($326.4 million/286.6 million euro) in 2021, official data showed.
Non-life insurance premiums increased 7.9% on the year to 438.9 million marka in 2021, while life insurance premiums went up 9.7% to 121.5 million marka, according to figures published by the Federation’s insurance supervision agency.
Adriatic Osiguranje was the top insurer in the non-life segment with gross written premiums of 61.4 million marka in 2021, up from 58.1 million marka a year earlier. It was followed by Euroherc Osiguranje and Sarajevo Osiguranje, with premiums of 57.5 million marka and 56.3 million marka, respectively.
In the life insurance segment, Sarajevo-based Grawe Osiguranje ranked first with 30.5 million marka in premiums last year, up from 29.1 million marka in 2020. It was followed by Uniqa Osiguranje and Vienna Osiguranje, with life premiums of 28.1 million marka and 25.9 million marka, respectively.
At the end of last year, 20 insurance companies operated in Bosnia’s Federation.
The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.
