March 14 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums (GWPs) of insurance companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Federation rose 5% year-on-year to nearly 101 million marka ($55.4 million/51.6 million euro) in the first two months of the year, official data showed on Tuesday.
Non-life insurance premiums increased 5.1% on the year to 78.1 million marka in the January-February period, while life insurance premiums went up 4.8% to 22.9 million marka, according to figures posted on the website of the Federation’s insurance supervision agency.
Sarajevo Osiguranje was the top insurer in the non-life segment with gross written premiums of 10.7 million marka in the first two months, up from 9.8 million marka a year earlier. It was followed by Adriatic Osiguranje and Euroherc Osiguranje, with premiums of 10.6 million marka and 10.1 million marka, respectively.
In the life insurance segment, Sarajevo-based Grawe Osiguranje ranked first with 5.6 million marka in premiums in January-February, down from 5.9 million marka in the same period of 2022. It was followed by Vienna Osiguranje and Uniqa Osiguranje, with life premiums of 5.3 million marka and 4.7 million marka, respectively.
At the end of February, 19 insurance companies operated in Bosnia’s Federation.
The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.
