September 26 (SeeNews) - Bosnian retailer Tropic said it has successfully expanded its supermarket chain in the country's Federation entity by opening a store in the municipality of Bosanska Krupa.
The supermarket spreads over an area of 700 sq m and is Tropic's third store in the Federation, the company said in a statement on Monday.
Tropic is a retail chain based in Bosnia's Serb Republic entity. In 2014, the Tropic Group acquired 39 Moj Market stores from Delhaize Group when the Belgian food retailer exited the Bosnian market.
Earlier this month, local media reported that Tropic is interested in purchasing Slovenian retailer Mercator's stores in Bosnia. Mercator is set to return to Bosnia shortly by taking over 83 stores in Bosnia and Herzegovina currently run by its peer Konzum.
Both Mercator and Konzum are members of Croatia's ailing retail and food concern Agrokor which is trying to salvage its business in Bosnia by reintroducing Mercator.
Bosnia is made up of two entities, the Federation and the Serb Republic.
