Banja Luka bourse index falls in June amid higher turnover

July 1 (SeeNews) - Total trading turnover of Bosnia's Banja Luka Stock Exchange (BLSE) increased to 102.6 million marka ($56.4 million/52.5 million euro) in June, compared with 66 million marka generated in May, the bourse said on Monday.

However, equity turnover from regular trading on the BLSE totalled 3.2 million marka in June, lower than 9.6 million marka in the prior month, the bourse said in a monthly report.

The BLSE's total trading turnover amounted to 297 million marka in June 2023.

A total of 460 transactions were concluded on the Banja Luka bourse in June, compared with 695 in the previous month and 395 transactions in June 2023.

The BLSE's total market capitalisation amounted to 5.2 billion marka in June, flattish compared with the end of the prior month. The bourse's total market capitalisation came in at 4.8 billion marka in June 2023.

The BLSE’s benchmark index, the BIRS, closed at 895.14 points at the end of June, down 0.76% compared to the end-May value and 21.65% higher compared with its closing value at the end of June 2023.

Lender Nasa Banka [BANJ:PIBB] contributed the largest portion of total trading turnover among the companies on the BLSE in June, of 1.1 million marka. The bank's shares closed at 0.81 marka at the end of June, flat compared with the end of the previous month.

The BLSE is based in the Serb Republic, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE) is based in the other entity, the Federation.
