April 30 (SeeNews) - Albania-Kosovo power exchange Alpex said it has appointed the Kosovo unit of Albania’s Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) as a clearing member.
BKT Kosova will provide services for clearing and settlement of financial transactions for members of Alpex in the Kosovo bidding zone, Alpex said in a LinkedIn post on Monday.
Kosovo’s Procredit Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Germany-based ProCredit Holding, was the first clearing member for the Kosovo bidding zone, according to the power exchange’s website. Alpex also has two clearing members for the Albanian bidding zone: the Albanian unit of Austrian financial services group Raiffeisen Bank International and local Tirana Bank.
Alpex, founded by Albania’s power transmission operator OST and Kosovo’s KOSTT in October 2020, has 24 members in Albanian and Kosovo bidding zones. Last month, the total volume of electricity traded cross-zone in its day-ahead market (DAM) amounted to 152 GWh.
