INTERVIEW - Bright Engineering continuously investing in sustainable development

Founded in 1999, Bright Engineering launched as a company operating in the areas of field instrumentation and protection systems, vibration monitoring and protection оf rotating machines, industrial heat tracing, etc.. It is currently developing and managing projects and complete installation establishment, including in the field of renewables.

Over the years, Bright Engineering has managed numerous major traditional energy projects but it is now growing further and adding more and more RES projects to its pipeline.

Following is the full text of an interview with the company's sales director, Panayot Panayotov, first published in The Renewable Energy Sector in Bulgaria report published by SeeNews and Gugushev & Partners Law Office.

Your company is even at the forefront of a truly innovative project in Bulgaria – the first refinery for bioethanol from 2nd generation straw. Can you tell us a bit more about your role in this and what are the main challenges you are facing, given that this is a first-of-its kind project?

Climate change and the challenges of protecting the environment, reducing the use of fossil fuels, energy security and diversification are some of the most important problems that any economy is facing in the medium and long term. It is well known that one of the most important EU environmental policies is the aim to be climate-neutral by 2050 - an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. The implementation of energy-еfficient and environmental projects guarantees economic sustainability and long-term development of companies in this field. The aim of the project is the construction of a bioethanol refinery with a capacity of 50,000 tons / year produced using technology by the company Clariant ® AG. The selected Sunliquid® technology from Clariant AG guarantees the processing of agricultural waste (straw) into a final product (bioethanol). The site is important locally for its carbon neutrality, which directly corresponds to the EU’s global focus on greenhouse gas emissions. Bright Engineering Ltd., as the main contractor of the design phase of the mentioned project, is directly responsible for the authorisation of the basic design of the bioethanol refinery, as well as chief technical consultant of the project

What other RES areas are you active in and do you currently have other such projects in the pipeline?

We are quite excited to announce the start of a new project for 300 MW wind power plant. Bright Engineering is the chief consultant for the project.

And moving to a global scale, companies from various industries, including energy, are now striving to reduce their carbon footprint. As a project manager, Bright Engineering surely has a role in this process. What are the concrete solutions you offer your clients in that regard?

Our company is continuously investing efforts and funds in qualifying and retraining the human resources in new areas, sustainable development, environmentally friendly products and solutions. We use proven technologies from the field leaders, thus providing long-term solutions and sustainable business. As a result, а wide range of customers benefit from our expertise, both in conventional power industry – in the areas of repairs, modernisations, monitoring and reduction of emissions and increasing of the energy efficiency, as well as when it comes to completely new projects in the clean energy trend - wind farms, biofuel production, biogas plants, solar power systems.
