November 24 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Thursday its loss before taxes in Montenegro decreased to 100,000 euro ($105,753) in the first nine months of 2016, from 500,000 euro a year earlier.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Montenegro fell by 3% on the year to 9.2 million euro in the review period, the insurer said in its interim financial report.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment fell to 7.4 million euro, down 3%, whereas premiums from life insurance dropped 3% to 9.2 million euro.
In the health insurance sector in Montenegro, UNIQA booked a rise of 11% in gross written premiums, to 500,000 euro.
The UNIQA Group is represented in Montenegro by two companies - UNIQA zivotno osiguranje and UNIQA nezivotno osiguranje.
In Southeastern Europe (SEE), UNIQA also operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. The company's operation in the region - excluding Romania - generated a pre-tax profit of 10.7 million euro in the first nine months, up from 9.2 million euro in the corresponding period of 2015.
