July 28 (SeeNews) - Turkish steel pipes manufacturer Borusan Mannesmann plans to build a plant in Romania, in which it intends to make an initial investment of $8 million (6.77 million euro), the company said.
The investment will be Borusan's second in Europe, after the one in Italy, the company said in a statement published on Turkey's Public Disclosure Platform, KAP, on Tuesday.
Borusan Mannesmann has already established a subsidiary in Romania, Borusan Tube Products.
Borusan acquired the cold-drawn pipe plant in Vorbano, Italy, in 2001, according to its website.
Part of the Borusan Group, Borusan Mannesmann operates seven plants across three continents and employs 2,038. The company merged its operations with European steel and technology firm Salzgitter Mannesmann GmbH in 1998.
