May 22 (SeeNews) - Slovenian glassmaker Steklarna Hrastnik, part of Switzerland-based Global Glass Group, has launched a 4.6 million euro ($5.0 million) project for the digitalisation of its production activities, it said.
The project is supported under a public tender launched by the Slovenian government for the digital transformation of the economy financed with state and European funds under the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the country, Steklarna Hrastnik said in a statement on Friday.
A total of 2.2 million euro of the investment represents non-refundable funds obtained through the public tender, Staklarna Hrastnik said.
"Among the upcoming advancements are new or enhanced technologies and applications, innovative business models tailored to different markets, the development of machine learning models for optimising production, big data solutions, pioneering methodologies, cost modernisation, strengthening digital competencies among employees, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, reducing time-to-market for new innovative products, and other groundbreaking innovations," Steklarna Hrastnik general manager Peter Cas said in the statement.
In addition to advancing the digitalisation of glass production, the project encompasses the digital transformation of the consortium partners and the digitisation of interactions with external stakeholders, Steklarna Hrastnik noted.
