LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), April 12 (SeeNews) – Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport increased 4.0% year-on-year to 342,636 in the first quarter of 2019, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Friday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport rose 3.9% to 7,600 during January-March, while cargo traffic decreased 4.0% to 2,911 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In March alone, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport rose 3.0% to 133,641, aircraft movements added 1.4% to 2,674, while cargo traffic fell 6.9% to 1,012 tonnes.
In 2018, passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport rose 7.7% to 1,812,411.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire a stake of 75.5% in the company operating Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%. Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian cities of Varna and Burgas.
