December 9 (SeeNews) - Serbian wine producer Fruskogorski Vinogradi said it has made the first shipment to China under an export agreement signed after the visit of Chinese president Xi Jinping to Serbia in June.
The first of the planned 16 containers with Fruskac Red, Rose and White wine was loaded on a transoceanic ship and will be exported to China, Fruskogorski Vinogradi said in a statement e-mailed to SeeNews on Thursday.
Fruskogorski Vinogradi is already exporting Fruskac wine to China, which has gained popularity in the northeastern part of the country, primarily in Shanghai, which is a region with highly demanding wine clientele, the company said.
The vineyards of Fruskogorski Vinogradi spread across 80 hectares near the village of Banostor, on the slopes of the Fruska Gora National Park on the banks of the Danube river. The annual volume of production is approximately 300,000 litres.
The company is implementing a plan for the expansion of vineyards and the upgrade of equipment, aiming to increase production capacities to approximately 1 million bottles a year in the medium term and forecasts ever increasing growth in sales in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Moreover, Fruskogorski Vinogradi aims to establish a research and development (R&D) centre for the entire Fruska Gora region, including the construction of facilities within the vineyards to host a laboratory, micro vinification plant and wine tasting room.
