BELGRADE (Serbia), April 8 (SeeNews) – Serbia's government signed a 62.2 million euro ($73.9 million) agreement with Swiss company Stadler Rail for the delivery of three high-speed trains, it said on Thursday.
The trains will be used on the Belgrade-Novi Sad railway line which is being built by Russian and Chinese contractors, the government said in a statement.
The delivery of the first train will be carried out by October 31, while the second and third train will be delivered by the end of 2021, the government said.
The trains are of the double-decker KISS200 model supporting a maximum speed of 200 km/h, the government noted.
The Belgrade-Novi Sad railway line is part of the Belgrade-Budapest railway. China Railway International (CRI) and China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) are in charge of the reconstruction of the Belgrade-Stara Pazova section of the line, while Russia's RZD International is reconstructing the Stara Pazova-Novi Sad section.
