May 6 (SeeNews) - Romania's retail sales edged up by a seasonally and working-day adjusted 0.8% year-on-year in the first three months of 2021, the statistical office, INS, said on Thursday.
Also on an adjusted basis, sales of food, beverages and tobacco fell by an annual 3%, non-food sales increased 10.8% and sales of fuels were down 2.1% compared to the like period of 2020, INS said in a statement.
Based on unadjusted data, retail sales climbed 4.1% on the year in the quarter of 2021.
In March alone, Romania's retail sales increased by an adjusted 5.6% year-on-year, after falling by 1.2% the month before. On a monthly comparison basis, retail trade turnover rose by an adjusted 2.3% in March, after edging up by 0.6% in February, the data indicated.
The figures do not include trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles.

Romania's retail sales increased by 2.2% last year.
