March 20 (SeeNews) - Romanian manufacturer of emergency vehicles Deltamed booked a turnover of 36 million euro ($39 million) in 2023, an 88% surge over the previous year, local media reported on Wednesday.
The company's exports increased fivefold last year, generating 13% of its turnover, Agerpres news agency reported. The main foreign markets of Deltamed were Austria, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, and Spain.

Deltamed CEO Daniela Gavrila said that the company will deliver 300 ambulances to the Austrian market in 2024. It will also deliver emergency vehicles to Moldova, after winning a public procurement tender there.
At the end of the first half of 2024, Deltamed will complete the development of a new production facility in the western city of Aiud, following a 2 million euro investment.
By mid-2024, the company will also open its first maintenance and repair centre outside Romania, in neigbouring Moldova. The centre will provide services for the 62 ambulances that Deltamed will deliver to the country starting in April.
"The maintenance and repair centre was an investment that we considered necessary to optimize response and service times in the event of malfunctions. [...] The investment in the maintenance centre amounts to several hundred thousand euros," said Viorel Toadere, commercial director at Deltamed.
In 2023, Deltamed equipped seven Black Hawk helicopters acquired by Romania's ministry of the interior with medical stretchers.
Deltamed was founded in 1997 and is currently the largest manufacturer of ambulances and special intervention vehicles in Eastern Europe.
