December 5 (SeeNews) - Romanian insurer Allianz-Tiriac said on Monday that its gross written premiums (GWP) reached 1.9 billion lei ($405.5 million/385.4 million euro) in the first nine months of 2022, a rise by 80% year-on-year due to an increase in the number of its customers.
In the nine-month period, the company registered an operating profit of 181 million lei, Allianz-Tiriac said in a press release.
Its customer base nearly doubled during January-September to 1.5 million customers.
During the first nine months of 2022, the number of clients who purchased life insurance expanded by an annual 20%.
During the review period, Allianz-Tiriac paid 820 million lei in compensations to its policyholders, up by annual 50%.
Allianz-Tiriac, part of Germany's Allianz Group, was founded in 1994. The company currently employs some 1,000 people.
