March 11 (SeeNews) - Montenegrin energy ministry said local mining company Rudnik Uglja [MNG:RUPV] has agreed to supply coal to Serbian power utility EPS under a direct cooperation deal aiming to eliminate third-party costs, intermediaries, and manipulation in coal procurement.
The agreement follows a meeting between Montenegrin energy minister Sasa Mujovic and EPS' executive director Dusan Zivkovic, Montenegero's energy ministry said in a statement over the weekend.
The new supply deal will come into force once all existing supply contracts expire, according to the statement.
Pljevlja-based Rudnik Uglja is owned by Montenegro's state-run power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG). Its main client is the Pljevlja based thermal power plant, also owned by EPCG.
