September 30 (SeeNews) - Some major industrial Bulgarian companies may receive gas directly from Azerbaijan, Bulgarian president Rumen Radev said on Friday after discussing the potential option with his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev.
In return for the direct deliveries, Bulgarian companies would co-operate with respective sector peers in Azerbaijan, Radev said in a statement after a meeting with Aliyev in Sofia.
The potential direct deliveries would be made to major Bulgarian companies involved in the manufacture of fertilisers, cement, chemicals and glass, Radev added.
The Azeri gas will arrive to Bulgaria via the link with Greece that will be commissioned on Saturday after receiving final operating permits earlier this week. The Interconector Greece-Bulgaria will allow additional gas imports to Bulgaria under a 1 billion bcm/year contract with Azerbaijan as well as the flow of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from terminals in Greece and Turkey.
