January 10 (SeeNews) - Croatia's biggest telecoms operator, Hrvatski Telekom [ZSE:HT-R-A], led the gainers among the blue chips on the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) on Tuesday, bourse data showed.
HT's shares closed 5.18% higher at 175.05 kuna ($24.5/23.1 euro), as 33,943 shares changed hands. The company's share price was boosted by its announcement that it has signed a share purchase agreement with Hungary's Magyar Telekom to acquire a 76.53% stake in Crnogorski Telekom for 123.5 million euro ($130.8 million).
Hrvatski Telekom also generated the highest trading turnover of 5.9 million kuna. Additionally, there was a 3.97 million kuna block transaction of the telco's shares.
Shipping company Uljanik Plovidba [ZSE:ULPL-R-A] led the blue-chip decliners, as its share price fell 5.4% to 157.01 kuna.
The bourse's total trading turnover jumped to 30.6 million kuna on Tuesday from 5.6 million kuna on Monday, on the back of HT trading.
The 25-share benchmark CROBEX index of the ZSE surged 0.98% to 2,056.04 points, after gaining 0.29% on Monday. CROBEX is at its highest level since August 31, 2011, when it closed at 2,033.92.
The narrower of the bourse's two blue-chip indices, the CROBEX10, which tracks the leading companies in terms of free float, market capitalisation and liquidity, increased 1.42% to 1,192.98 points after rising 0.39% in the previous trading session.
The fixed-income CROBIS index fell by 0.05% to 109.0061 points.
