October 22 (SeeNews) - Albania attracted 494,332 foreign tourists in September, compared with 377,033 in the same month last year, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Foreign tourist arrivals reached 4.9 million in the first nine month of 2021, compared with 2.1 million in the same period a year earlier, the statistical office said in a statement.
In September alone, the number of domestic tourists rose to 299,678 from 227,670 in September 2020. Overall, the total number of domestic and foreign tourists came in at 794,010 in the month under review, compared with 604,703 in the same month in 2020.
In September 2021, Albania attracted 187,691 visitors from Kosovo, 36,096 from Greece and 30,991 from Italy.
Albania confirmed its first two coronavirus cases in early March 2020. Later that month, the country closed its land borders and suspended all commercial flights in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus.
