Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Thursday its pre-tax profit in Bulgaria rose by an annual 50% to 300,000 euro ($338,000) in the first half of the year.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Bulgaria rose by 5% to 29.4 million euro through June, UNIQA said in its financial report.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Bulgaria accounted for 14 million euro of the total premiums volume, down 2% on the year. Gross written premiums from life-insurance rose 13% to 15.5 million euro.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Croatia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - including savings portions from unit-linked and index-linked life insurance, fell by an annual currency adjusted 2% to 141.3 million euro
