March 12 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums (GWPs) of insurance companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Federation rose 14.8% year-on-year to 118.2 million marka ($66.1 million/60.4 million euro) in the first two months of the year, official data showed on Tuesday.
Non-life insurance premiums increased 20% on the year to 96 million marka in the January-February period, while life insurance premiums went down 3.3% to 22.1 million marka, according to figures posted on the website of the Federation’s insurance supervision agency.
ASA Central Osiguranje was the top insurer in the non-life segment with gross written premiums of 15.4 million marka in the first two months, up from 11.4 million marka a year earlier. It was followed by Adriatic Osiguranje and Sarajevo Osiguranje, with premiums of 12.8 million marka and 12.4 million marka, respectively.
In the life insurance segment, Grawe Osiguranje ranked first with 5 million marka in premiums in January-February, down from 5.6 million marka in the same period of 2023. It was followed by Vienna Osiguranje and Uniqa Osiguranje, with life premiums of 4.9 million marka and 4.7 million marka, respectively.
At the end of February, 19 insurance companies operated in Bosnia’s Federation.
The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.
