April 24 (SeeNews) - The blue-chip BELEX15 index of the Belgrade Stock Exchange closed 0.79% higher at 1,006.10 points on Wednesday, supported by gains in oil and gas company NIS [BEL:NIIS], bourse data showed.
NIS closed 3.29% higher at 879 dinars. A total of 1,729 NIS shares changed hands, generating the day's largest turnover of 1.5 million dinars.
At the other end, industrial gases maker Messer Tehnogas [BEL:TGAS] was the sole blue-chip loser for the day, shedding 0.12% to 25,000 dinars.
The broader BELEXline, a free-float market capitalisation weighted index, also rose, closing 1.13% higher at 2,196.58 points.
Total turnover on the Belgrade bourse fell to 15.4 million dinars ($140,900/131,800 euro) on Wednesday from 56.9 million dinars on Tuesday. Trading in Treasury bonds accounted for 6.8 million dinars of Wednesday's turnover.
