February 23 (SeeNews) - Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) rose by 0.6% in January, after adding 1.5% year-on-year in December, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation in January came from a 2.1% rise in the harmonised index of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, followed by prices of recreation and culture with a 1.6% increase and health with a 1.5% rise, INSTAT said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP rose 1.5% in January, after rising 0.4% in the previous month.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation slowed to 0.4% year-on-year in January, from 1.1% in December, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
