March 29 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums (GWPs) of Albanian insurers increased to 3.6 billion leks ($37.3 million/34.6 million euro) in the first two months of 2024, up by 8.14% compared to the same period in 2023, official figures showed on Friday.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance rose by 7.78% on the year to 3.25 billion leks in the January-February period, while the life insurance segment reported an increase of 13% in premiums, to 311 million leks, the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA) said in a monthly release.
Total gross claims paid decreased by 19% on the year to 1.28 billion leks in the two months.
In 2023, the gross written premiums of Albanian insurers increased to 22.8 billion leks, up by 8.86% as compared to the previous year, AFSA has said.
The statistics comprise data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
