November 30 (SeeNews) - Albania registered a budget surplus of 13.7 billion leks ($107.5 million/101 million euro) in the first ten months of 2016, compared to a deficit of 18.9 billion leks a year ago, according to provisional data released by the finance ministry.
The improvement was driven mainly by increased tax revenues, figures posted on the website of the ministry show. In 2015, Albania had to pay debt arrears, which also contributed to last year's deficit.
Total budget revenue rose 7.6% year-on-year to 334.7 billion leks in the first 10 months, while total expenditure shrank 2.6% to 321.6 billion leks.
Albania posted a budget surplus of 10.6 billion leks in the first nine months of 2016, versus a deficit of 18.5 billion leks in the corresponding period of last year.
