April 22 (SeeNews) - SOF Connect, the concessionaire of Bulgaria's Sofia Airport, and local civil engineering contractor Glavbolgarstroy (GBS) Holding on Monday started construction of an outdoor car park at the airport worth over 7 million levs ($3.8 million/3.6 million euro), SOF Connect said.

The project, set to be completed by October, also covers the installation of an access control system and the construction of a U-turn.
"After the construction of the open-air parking, we will also start the reconstruction of the covered parking of Terminal 2. As a result of these projects, passengers will have around 1,800 parking spots at their disposal," SOF Connect CEO Jesus Caballero said.
In November, SOF Connect signed a contract worth 24.5 million levs with GBS-Infrastructure Construction for the renovation of the covered car park at Sofia Airport's Terminal 2.
SOF Connect took over the management of Sofia Airport in April 2021 under a 35-year concession agreement.
