March 12 (SeeNews) - Croatia's real economy expanded by an annual 4.3% in the last quarter of 2023, marking the largest increase in the EU, alongside Malta, and among EU member states in Southeast Europe (SEE), the bloc's statistical office said.
Compared to the previous quarter, Croatia recorded the second-highest rise in gross domestic product (GDP) in the EU in the October-December period, at 1.3%, followed by Slovenia with 1.1%, Eurostat said in a quarterly report last week, citing seasonally adjusted data.
Elsewhere in SEE, Romania registered the lowest annual GDP growth in the region in the fourth quarter of last year, at 1.1%, and the only quarterly decline, of 0.5%.
In the EU overall, GDP went up 0.2% in annual terms and remained unchanged compared to the previous quarter.
