May 9 (SeeNews) - Croatia's trade deficit widened to 4.187 billion euro ($4.49 billion) in the first three months of this year, compared with a gap of 4.095 billion euro in the same period of 2023, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
Exports dropped 5.1% on the year to 5.564 billion euro in the January-March period, while imports fell 2.1% to 9.751 billion euro, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics said in a statement, quoting preliminary data.
Croatia's exports to the European Union declined 9.4% on the year to 3.694 billion euro, whereas imports from the EU expanded 3.1% to 7.872 billion euro in the period under review.
Croatia's trade deficit declined to 16.6 billion euro last year from 17.8 billion euro in 2022.
